June 10th Event
The tee times have been posted for this Saturday Men's Club event which is the Class Stableford format of scoring.
Here is a table showing some of the different Stableford scoring methods. Remember we are using the Classic.
Remember, as this is an individual scoring event all scores should be entered into the handicap computer after your round.

Same as BritishEagle 5 pts 4 pts Stableford but with Birdie 2 pts 3 pts Joker holes (where Par 0 pts 2 pts points made on the Bogey -1 pts 1 pts hole are doubled).* Double Bogey + -2 pts 0 pts Remember, if you are not going to be able to make it on Saturday please send us an email at hmc@hazelmeremensclub.org as soon as you can so we can make any necessary changes to the foursomes.
Match Play Ladders
Congratulations to the recent winners of various match plays that have been played in the last week. It would appear as though most matches are on schedule, Thank you!! All of the match play ladders have been updated as of today's date. If there are any match results not on the website please send me an email with the information and I will update the ladders immediately.
Prize Money & 50/50 Money
As usual any prize money will be available to be picked up on the first tee box at Saturdays Men's Club event. It looks like Fred Lee won the 50/50 draw (we have not seen his winning ticket yet so it is still unofficial). Congratulations Fred!
June 24th - Upcoming Men's Club Event
First Round of the Summer Shoot Out (I believe it is alternate shot but don't quote me)
If you have not yet signed up for the Summer Shoot Out - have you got a piano tied to your ass??
If you don't have a partner, no problem, go to the website a see who else doesn't have a partner and start calling. A few weeks ago I sent everyone a list of all the men's club members with their contact information so getting a hold of them shouldn't be a problem. If you do find a partner remember to let us know so we can update the signup sheet.
If you don't have a partner the club captain will make up pairing a week prior to the event.
Greater Vancouver Charity Classic
Remember the the GVCC is only a week away so if you can volunteer I am sure they would be happy to hear from you. And if you can't get out there and show your support for the players and the club!
Handicap & Ruling Corner
A recent question sent to our executive regarding recording of scores in match play circumstance may be of interest to other members of the men's club so we thought we would share it with you.
Question
Do individual scores have to be posted for team matches if not combined with an individual scoring event? As you know players simply pick up if they are out of the hole or depending on the circumstances. In a few cases I picked up from 6 feet or more if my partner had already won the hole for the team or if my score didn't make a difference. My opponent states that we should have putted out under all circumstances and then post an individual score
Answer
We should post scores but as we can see below the player does not have to putt out but take his "most likely" score. Next weeks event is Individual Stableford - so for purposes of this event ALL putts must be made. - See below from RCGA Handicapping Here is a link to their website: http://www.rcga.org/english/Rules/rules.asp
-1. Unfinished Holes and Conceded Strokes If a player starts but does not complete a hole or is conceded a stroke, that player shall record for handicap purposes their most likely score. The most likely score consists of the number of strokes already taken plus, in the player's best judgement, the number of strokes that the player would need to complete the hole from that position more than half the time. This number may not exceed the player's Equitable Stroke Control limit, defined in Section 4-3. This most likely score should be preceded by an X, such as X6.
There is no limit to the number of unfinished holes a player may have in a round provided that failure to finish is not for the purpose of Handicap Factor manipulation.
Example 1: A and B are partners in a four-ball stroke play competition. On a hole on which neither player receives a handicap stroke, A lies two, 18 feet from the hole. B lies two, 25 feet from the hole. B holes a putt for a three. A picks up their ball because they cannot better B's score. A records X4 on the score card because 4 is their most likely score.
Example 2: A and B are playing a match. On a hole on which neither player receives a handicap stroke, A has holed out in 4; B has a 30 foot putt for a 5. B has lost the hole, and picks up. He records X6 on the score card because 6 is their most likely score.
Example 3: A and B are playing a match. On a hole on which neither player received a handicap stroke, A is one foot from the hole, lying 4. B is 10 feet from the hole, lying 3. B putts and misses. They agree to a half. Both players record 5 because that is the score they most likely would have made.
That's it for another week.
See you on Saturday.
