Week of July 10th

It's been one action packed week and we have lots of news to bring you up to speed on what's been happening in the Men's Club Tour  during the last week.  With everything from acts of heroism & selflessness to down right 'what were you thinking' and a bit in between.  We also added a few more millionaires to the Canadian population, pick up the next edition of Forbes Magazine I'm sure you will recognize a few of the faces.  So where do we start ....

July 8th - 4 Man Best Ball

Yes, we ran the 4 man best ball last Saturday with a hotly contest finish for the prize money as well as the more important bragging rights.

Under the category of 'what were you thinking' goes out to Mr. Van Egmond who was a no show, or was he maybe the Phantom.  RK who decided to grace his team with his presence on the 4th hole.  It was kind of like cavalry coming over the hill as he was limo'd out in the clubs finest chariot to join the action in progress on hole #4.  Were glad you made it!

Under the category of selfless and heroic comes the quote by 'Deuce Pot Sudermann', or as he is know in some circles on the tour, 'Iceman'.

"If I go into the deuce pot I don't get any deuces' so I didn't go in so the team had a better chance to win"

Where do we sign this man up for Saint Hood.  That was extremely thoughtful Henry, a bit expensive but thoughtful.  I hope your team appreciates the enormous $$$ sacrifice you made.  And to make matters even worse your 2 deuces came up 1 stroke  short of having a sniff for 3rd place.  You came soooooo close ....  Your sacrifice will not go un noticed, we all bow to your team spirit!  ata boy!!

Under the heading 'Phantom', I don't know who Phantom is but I can tell you he didn't pay his Men's Club dues earlier this year,  personally I think we should DQ this guy, that is if anyone can find SOB!  Just let him try to collect his winnings.

The results of the 4 Man Best Ball event have been posted to the Men's Club website.   Did anyone feel a slight shift in the universe after the results were posted.  It would appear that Gary Sheane, who just happened to be on the winning team also won the 50/50 Pot and his team mates bellied up to the trough at the PM results.  Out of the 10 winning tickets 4 of them were in the winning team leaving a bit of petty cash for the 6 others to split the remaining nickels and dimes.  To make matters even worse, if that could be possible, a certain TJ (to protect his identity, cause after this he may become an endangered species, had the only KP (thanks again 'iceman') that paid out somewhere around $72.00.  Yes, you read that correctly, 1 KP worth $72 big ones!!  Just to add the icing to the cake they also get they 1st prize money of $25.00   I think they can afford to finance the next dog & drink ..... or at the very least a drink, what was that membership #??

PM

Due to poor penmanship and a bit of Alzheimer's,  could whoever has the following PM ticket numbers please let me know who you are so I can accurately record the PM results. Fortunately none of these ticket #'s are winners or unfortunately depending on your view point.

Ticket #53, Ticket #67, Ticket #81,

Ticket #71 (is that you Shane?)

PM results will be posted as soon as I can confirm the above information.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Now onto something new ...

2006 British Open Lottery

Yes, the British Open, the jewel of the golfing season is just around the corner.  The Rules Page and Entry Form have been posted to the Men's Club Website.  I'm sure that some of you BIG WINNERS noted above would like to invest your earnings f or some serious return on investment.  Just ask Mr. (Pull the rabbit out of the hat) Werlinger who won the last lottery.  The Brinks Armored Car could barely get into his driveway with his winnings, or was that the Mounties Paddy Wagon picking him up for impersonating a Golf Expert?

Our target for this event is 25 participants so if you have any buddies who like to get on the action either let them know where to find us or you enter on their behalf.  Participants can enter more than one team and teams can be shared by one than one participant.

The British Open Website has the players listed who are so far playing in the open next week.  There is a link to it from our Rules Page.  the deadline for your entry is midnight, Wednesday, July 19th.

Here is a link to the rules page on the Men's Club website:

Good luck to all participants!!

July 22nd Men's Club Event

The next Men's Club event is the 2nd Round of the Summer Shootout.  The registration deadline is just around the corner so if you haven't signed up as of yet please do so, either via the website or the book in the Pro shop.  If you see a 'single' and you don't have a partner you can contact them to make a team for this event otherwise the Club Captain will make up teams after the registration deadline has passed.  If you do manage to make a team please email the Brent at clubcaptain@hazelmeremensclub.org   Remember, to be able to win the overall event you must maintain the same partner for all 3 events.

Match Play Ladders

There are only 1 or 2 matches that are behind and we hope to have those caught up by weeks end.  Remember, if you play a match please email the results to hmc@hazelmeremensclub.org  so the ladder on the website can be updated.

That's it for another stimulating week on the Hazelmere Men's Club Tour.

If you have something you wish to share with the members please drop us a email, we are all ears.

Regards,

HMC Executive
